As a Principal of Chartwell Capital Advisors, Mr. Karren is responsible for business development, deal sourcing, due diligence, acquisitions, and acts as general counsel to the Chartwell Capital family.

Since 2005, Brian has been involved in the acquisition, financing, and disposition of commercial real estate.  He also spent a number of years as an operating executive at a security company with principal oversight over operations and finance where he worked closely with a large private equity group.  During this time he helped oversee the successful negotiation, documentation, and closing of over $350,000,000 in commercial transactions and, in collaboration with the private equity partner, helped negotiate and close on a $200,000,000 credit facility.

He started his career as a transactional attorney at Snell & Wilmer.

Mr. Karren has a JD from the University of Utah’s Law School (Order of the coif) and a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Utah (magna cum laude).
